Cutting Through the Noise in Joint Replacement

Orthopedics today is buzzing with new technologies and “minimally invasive” techniques. Every month brings a new alignment philosophy for total knee replacement, a new approach to the hip, or the latest surgical robot or navigation tool promising better outcomes. It’s exciting — but it can also feel overwhelming, and too often the conversation is driven more by marketing than by data.

This blog exists to cut through the noise.

For patients: You’ll get clear, evidence-based explanations of what these innovations actually mean for your recovery. Is an anterior hip replacement really less painful? Does robotic knee replacement improve function? How do different alignment strategies affect outcomes? My goal is to give you straight answers in plain language.

For surgeons: Innovation will drive our field forward — robotics, fluoroscopy-based navigation, AI-driven planning, wearables, and patient engagement platforms all hold promise. But we owe it to our patients (and ourselves) to understand not just what’s new, but what truly works. Here, I’ll share perspectives, data, and experiences to help separate meaningful advances from simple buzzwords.

Progress happens when we align innovation with evidence — not marketing. That’s the conversation I want to have here.

Glad you’re here. Let’s get started.
